My name is Barry New, I am a Captain with the Due West Police department in Abbeville County SC where I have been employed since December 2012. Prior to joining the Due West Police Department I was employed with the Abbeville County Sheriff's Office and Abbeville Police Department since July of 1987. I worked 3 years as a telecommunications operator. I am a certified Basic, Reserve Officer, Firearms II, Driving, Radar, Assault Rifle, O.C. (pepper spray), In_Car_Video, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and The Federal N.H.T.S.A. Traffic Occupant Protection Stratagies (T.O.P.S.) Instructor with State and National Certificates. I am currently assigned to Dixie High School as an SRO and handle our agencies NCIC, Criminal Information systems. I am a also involved in other County public safety departments as Director of Dive Operations and Master Diver with our Dive Team and Battalion Chief and NFPA Firefighter II with County Fire.
